Thank you for visiting our TNR page! Kitty Cat Connection’s TNR program is dedicated to help stop the overpopulation and suffering of homeless cats and kittens. TNR stands for trap, neuter, return. Spaying and neutering cats helps prevent unwanted litters of kittens, reduces fighting between male cats, takes away the risk of female cats having complicated births, and also ensures cats will not develop reproductive organ cancers. TNR’ing a cat ensures that the cat will live a longer and healthier life.
Kitty Cat Connection (KCC) has two main TNR volunteers, Ashley and Britney. Ashley TNR’s in the Kansas City, MO area while Britney TNR’s in rural areas north of Smithville, MO. In 2021 KCC did 149 TNR’s and placed 99 cats in barn homes. The cats that went to barn homes were colony cats that could no longer stay at their prior cat colony due to various reasons, so in all KCC spayed and neutered 248 outdoor cats in 2021. Ashley and Britney are happy to work with colony cat caretakers to help TNR colony cats, however, they have full time jobs and they volunteer to TNR in their free time, so they are limited on how many cats they can TNR.
Due to our volunteers limited amount of free time and KCC’s limited funds, we cannot help everyone who needs help with TNR. If you have colony cats that need TNR, we highly recommend that you ask your neighbors, friends, coworkers, and family members for their help in raising funds to get colony cats fixed. Rescues like ours only have so much manpower and funds for TNR and because of this, community members need to rally together to help TNR as well. If you are unable to find anyone to help TNR your local cats, that is when you can reach out to Ashley or Britney. If you have cats that need TNR’d in the Kansas City, MO area email Ashley at [email protected]. If you have cats that need TNR’d north of Smithville, MO email Britney at [email protected]
If you are able to raise funds to TNR local colony cats, there are multiple vet offices that offer affordable TNR. Below you will find a list of those vet offices with their contact numbers. If the below vet offices are too full to make an appointment for you, try contacting your personal vet to see if they will give you a discount for TNR. Rural vet offices also charge much less than big city vets and are a good option to help you with TNR. Also, we have attached some links below that have step by step instructions on how to TNR cats!
If you would like to support KCC’s TNR efforts, any size donation will be greatly appreciated and is tax deductible. Donations can be made through our Donations page and checks can be made payable to Kitty Cat Connection and mailed to:
